Sixty? It's Triathlon Time! 🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️
Jan 15, 2025
So, here's the thing. I'm turning the big 6-0 this year. 🎉 And I'm not just going to have cake and call it a day (though there will be cake, obviously!). Nope, I've decided to do something completely bonkers and sign up for an Olympic Distance Triathlon! 😜
Why? Well, why not?! It's a bucket list thing, for sure. But honestly, it's more than that. I want to prove to myself (and maybe to a few doubters out there 😉) that age is just a number. I'm still strong, I'm still determined, and I'm still up for a challenge!
Goals Are Good – Especially When They're a Little Scary
Let's be real, this whole triathlon thing is a bit intimidating. The swimming, the cycling, the running... it's a lot! But that's kind of the point, right? Setting big, hairy, audacious goals gives you something to aim for, something to get excited about. It's like a giant carrot dangling out in front of me, and I'm the super-motivated bunny! 🐰🥕
Sharing is Caring (and Keeps You Accountable!)
I'm a big believer in sharing your goals. Why? Because it's like having your own personal cheerleading squad! 📣 Plus, let's be honest, it helps keep you accountable. When you tell everyone you're going to do something crazy like this, you're less likely to back out when the training gets tough. 😅
My Dream Team: Coach and Nutrition Guru
Okay, I'm not going to lie, I'm not doing this alone. I've got some amazing people in my corner. First up, my awesome personal trainer, Samantha Blasquez. They're a total rockstar who's whipping me into shape with a training plan that's both challenging and sustainable (because, you know, rest is important!).
And then there's my nutritionist, who happens to also be Samm. They're like a food wizard, making sure I'm fueling my body with all the right stuff. No more random snacking for this athlete! 🥗💪
Oh and I shouldn't forget my tribe, my cheer squad…because we need to surround ourselves with people who are going to be there even when we want to quit! They check in on us and listen to us whine and complain when we want to give up, and make sure we do the work we said we wanted to do. They are also there when we cross the finish line. Mine include Bill (my husband), my kids and grand kiddos.
And finally, I have a swim buddy. Brenda W, who reminded me that I inspire her when it comes to curling, so now I need her to inspire me in the pool. 🏊♀️
Join the Journey!
So, that's my big news! I'm diving headfirst into this crazy triathlon adventure, and I'd love for you to follow along. Wish me luck, send me good vibes, and maybe even share your own crazy goals in the comments! Who knows, maybe we'll inspire each other to do amazing things! ✨
